Sitting in the heart of Mousehole this traditional, semi-detached, homely cottage is the perfect location for families looking for a relaxing holiday. The cottage is just yards from the main harbour and small sandy, family friendly beach. Portland Cottage is very much a traditional family home, comfortably furnished and without the frills of contemporary décor and furnishings. The cottage will appeal to guests looking for a spacious, homely traditional holiday property, and has the added advantage of private parking which is unusual in Mousehole.
Stroll to the village shops, art galleries, cafés, quality bistro restaurant and the pub on the quayside serving great local ales and food.
Mousehole is like stepping back in time with its quaint harbour and fishing boats, making it a truly magical experience. The village is vibrant all year round with the traditional summer holiday visitors, and it is equally appealing in the winter, when guests love to watch the stormy seas and flock to see the famous Christmas lights, and partake in the seasonal festivities. The owner’s father founded the Mousehole illuminations and every year they come on the week before Christmas.
The quaint working fishing harbour of Newlyn is close by, with the Newlyn School of Art and Art Gallery.
The busy town of Penzance has a convenient railway station, which provides great access to numerous coastal stations, including the scenic coastal train service to St Ives, Newquay and Falmouth. Make sure you visit the wide sweeping beach of Mounts Bay, with St Michaels Mount rising from the sea on its rocky island, and overlooking the historic town of Marazion with its small shops, art galleries and tea rooms. St Michaels Mount is open daily to the public and can be reached on foot by causeway at low tide, or by a small ferry boat at high tide. Beach 50 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
Need a hand deciding - mansion house or beach holiday? South West England is many peoples first choice. There are many dog friendly breaks in Cornwall, North Coast Cornwall or Devon - some have hot tubs.
