The ancient seaport of Whitby, just 8 miles away, has a bustling harbour, the abbey ruins and a pretty marina.
Whitby is known for its connections with Captain James Cook and boasts a 3-mile stretch of sandy beach, perfect for a relaxing day at the seaside. Visit smugglers’ coves at Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay, both within a short drive, or take a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors steam train based at Grosmont.
