Fern Cottage, originally built in 1755, is a stunning semi-detached cottage situated in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. The cottage is spacious and welcoming and has an enclosed garden. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling or driving, with the stunning countryside on your doorstep, Fern Cottage offers great opportunities to explore this beautiful area. This is especially true, if you are a keen cyclist, with The Cycle Hub and café in the near by village.
Lealholm is a popular tourist destination, it has a train station, a well known pub with outside seating, 2 cafés, a village shop, post office and garage, and there is even a plant nursery.
The village has stepping stones over the River Esk, and picnic areas. There is a free car park and on road parking just a short walk from the cottage.
The coastal towns of Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes are just a short drive away, and the historic seaside town of Whitby is just 9 miles away. Fern Cottage is set out over three floors offering a contemporary and comfortable environment to unwind in. The cottage has been sympathetically restored by local craftsmen, retaining many of its original features and additions throughout the centuries.
The cottage has a fabulous farmhouse kitchen and dining room, linked by an open doorway and a cosy double-sided wood burner. Its Yorkshire stone walls and original stripped pine doors have been lovingly restored, and there are generous seating options in the kitchen and dining room. Fern Cottage particularly welcomes cyclists, and clean bikes can be stored in the store room/dining area of the cottage. Beach 9¾ miles. Shop 40 yards, pub and restaurant 220 yards.
