Tucked away on a lane just off the main street of the picturesque village of Kettlewell, Secret Garden at Oak Cottage has been lovingly refurbished throughout to a high standard in 2021, mixing the character and charm of the traditional cottage features with a stylish interior.
From the moment you walk in through the kitchen you’ll be wowed – there is a fully fitted kitchen and a dining area which leads through into the living room with a log burner to cosy up next to on cooler evenings, and windows showing off the gorgeous garden. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms each with their own wonderful vista of the Yorkshire Dales. Outside, the garden is impeccable with a luscious green lawn bordered by flowers and shrubs from which you can sit back, relax and soak up the sun while taking in the impressive views of one of the most scenic landscapes in the country.
Kettlewell is a chocolate box village in Wharfedale with a selection of fantastic eateries including award-winning and affordable pubs and restaurants, along with a well-stocked village shop. Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Secret Garden at Oak Cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy walking in pretty much every direction from your front door. This is Tour De Yorkshire country, so cyclists will love the undulating hills and winding country lanes that snake through the valley. Other country pursuits nearby include pony trekking, rock climbing, fishing and even clay pigeon shooting.
The popular town of Grassington is just 7 miles away and plays host to events all year round including a Summer Arts Festival with famed singers, presenters, poets and authors, and a winter Dickensian Festival to capture the Yes spirit of Christmas.
The bustling market town of Skipton, 14 miles, has a great selection of shops and cafés, alongside delightful bars and restaurants dotted along cobbled streets. From here, you can tour the amazing Norman castle or take a boat trip along the canal.
Bolton Abbey is well worth a visit; its ancient priory ruins are fascinating and a picture perfect picnic by the river is a must on a sunny day. Malham Cove is also nearby, as is the National Trust’s Braithwaite Hall and the English Heritage’s Middleham Castle. The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Forest of Bowland and Harrogate are all within an hour’s drive.
