Quietly nestled away in the pretty North Yorkshire village of Marske, Bumblebee Cottage is the perfect location for guests wanting to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Bumblebee Cottage has been renovated to a good standard with the perfect balance of original features, character and charm. The private patio offers a peaceful haven for guests to sit and enjoy the surrounding nature and wildlife as well as taking in the super views. Set on a hillside, Marske village is surrounded by beautiful countryside. This is perfect walking country where the footpaths are numerous and the scenery is varied with views of fields, farms, woodland and open hillsides. The famous Coast to Coast walk crosses the village and is just 100 metres away from the end-terraced cottage.
There are plenty of shorter walks which take you through some of the most spectacular countryside and pass through many typical Yorkshire villages along the way, including Downholme which is only three miles away and home to a local pub that serves great food and drink.
Explore Swaledale and Arkengarthdale with the popular tourist destination of Reeth, being just seven miles away and then a further short drive to the upper Swaledale villages of Low Row, Gunnerside and Muker. The beautiful Georgian market town of Richmond is six miles away, with its cobbled streets, restaurants, bistros and shops. Richmond is the home of the famous Georgian Theatre, which is open all year round, as well as numerous tourist attractions to visit including the historic castle, a cinema and arts centre at The Station and two museums.
There is a weekly market on the cobbled square, and a popular Farmers’ market once a month. A little further afield but still within easy driving distance from Bumblebee Cottage are Leyburn, Barnard Castle (with The Bowes Museum), Thirsk, Ripon, Masham, Middleham and Hawes in Wensleydale. The cathedral cities of York and Durham can both be reached in just over an hour’s drive and are certainly worth a day trip along with a visit to one of the many beautiful beaches along the North Yorkshire coastlin
