Sykelands Cottage
1 bedroom, sleeps 2

Beautiful converted barn finished to an excellent standard with breathtaking views across the countryside.

Perfect for a quiet, romantic break, this semi-detached barn conversion has been finished to the highest of standards. All on one level, it features an open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, intimate dining area and a sumptuous lounge with solid oak flooring. A magnificent full height ceiling supported by the original A-frames with chandelier lighting creates an innovative, aesthetic layout that continues into the beautiful bedroom, with the option of a super king size bed or twin beds. An en-suite with twin basins and a double ended bath with shower over completes the picture. It has a front garden with breathtaking views stretching across the countryside. The eco-friendly biomass underfloor heating ensures no matter what the weather is doing outside, guests will remain comfortably warm and cosy inside. There is ample parking right outside the cottage. Situated adjacent to the owner’s property, seven miles between Richmond and Barnard Castle, within seven acres of grounds, Sykelands Grange Cottages are the ideal location for exploring this beautiful part of the country.

Discreetly tucked away close to the Yorkshire Dales but ideally positioned off the arterial main routes of the A66 Pennine Way and the A1 Scotch Corner, guests will find themselves within easy driving distance of many popular attractions and locations. The historic and picturesque market town of Barnard Castle can be easily reached within a seven mile drive and offers guests the opportunity to explore the popular Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle and Raby Castle, as well as the weekly farmer’s market and quaint high street. The Georgian market town of Richmond is just seven miles away in the opposite direction and once again is a great location for guests wanting to visit the castle, theatre, market place and also indulge in one of the many traditional tea shops and bakeries there. The cathedral city of Durham is only a 30 minute drive away and offers guests the opportunity to explore this World Heritage Site. The university campuses can easily be reached within a 35 minute drive making Sykelands Cottage the ideal spot for parents and friends wishing to visit students and loved ones for graduation ceremonies and taster weeks.

A little further afield but still within an hour’s drive are Catterick Races, Masham, Harrogate, Ripon, Thirsk and York. It is a perfect base for walkers, ramblers and cyclists with many established public footpaths, riverside walks, cycle paths and bridleways that lead through some of the most unspoilt countryside that Yorkshire and County Durham has to offer. There is a local pub just a couple of miles away which serves excellent food and drink as well as a locally respected farm shop, which offers produce from the local area. Only 30 minutes from the majestic Yorkshire Dales, walkers and cyclists will find this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers the most fabulous views, vistas and sights reaching far and wide across hills and dales. Sykelands Cottage can be booked together with Mill Cottage (UK2001) to accommodate up to four guests.
