Comfortably furnished, Hall Cottage has a wood burner perfect for winter days and evenings and a lovely sheltered landscaped garden, perfect for warmer times to sit and have a barbecue. With the coast close by it’s hard to decide whether to head east or west as either direction will take you to a pretty string of coastal villages and towns offering sand and shingle beaches, marshes and pretty quays.
For a historic seafront, head to Cromer and enjoy the promenade, wide sandy beach and the pier, with its traditional end of pier show. History enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with The Thursford and Muckleburgh Collections close by. The National Trust properties Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall are within easy reach, along with Sandringham House, Holkham Hall and the medieval city of Norwich. The National Trust Rhododendron and Azalea Walk at Sheringham Park, in season, is one of the country’s finest.
Also within easy reach lies Wroxham, the gateway to the Norfolk Broads and a great place to get on the water, relax and unwind. Birdwatchers, walkers and cyclists will also find lots to do, as will foodies as the area is littered with great places to eat, many of which serve local produce. And, after a long day out and about, you can return to the comfort of Hall Cottage and plan for adventures yet to come. Beach 2½ miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1¼ mile
