Wherryman’s Cottage is a detached riverside holiday cottage believing to date back to the early 1800s. It has plenty of character with its beams, farmhouse kitchen and Aga and offers idyllic river views, superb boating and mooring (motorised day launch with life jackets available to hire, at cost), fishing and bird watching opportunities; an ideal place for relaxing and exploring the Norfolk Broads. The most popular way of exploring this stunning area, which teems with wildlife, is by boat, but there are also many cycle pathways to explore, including the Weaver’s Way. This covers a stretch of some 56 miles, winding its way through the Broads to Cromer and Great Yarmouth.

The cottage is located in the pretty village of Coltishall with riverside pubs and shops. Wroxham, known as the Capital of the Broads, is just 3 miles away with waterside cafes, restaurants, shops, railway station and other amenities. Visitors of all ages will also enjoy a visit to Wroxham Barns, where giftware, country foods, a rose and plant centre, junior farm and funfair as well as craft studios and restaurant combine in one location. Children will also enjoy BeWILDerwood Adventure Park with its treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges and boat trips, which all combined makes a great day out. The seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth and Sheringham offer sandy beaches as well as markets and family entertainment; there is also over 700 acres of National Trust parkland to be found at Sheringham.

Alternatively, spend a day in the fine city of Norwich, 8 miles, with its Norman cathedral, castle, museums, theatres, twisting narrow streets and ancient churches. Norwich offers a vast array of cafes and shops, and it boasts an open air markets with brightly coloured stalls. National Trust properties well worth visiting are Felbrigg Hall and Blicking Hall. Golf can be found at Sprowston Hall. Shop ¾ mile, pub 5 minutes’ walk
