The Bobbin is a charming converted barn which started its life as a cow and pig sty. Lovingly-presented, The Bobbin is a wonderful cottage which still retains many of its original features, such as the feeding trough as you walk through the front door and beautiful exposed stone walls. The barn is situated on the A632, giving easy access to exploring the local area.
Set on the edge of the Peak District National Park, there is plenty to see and do from the doorstep, with many walking and cycle trails, and one leads through Ashover, a pretty village which boasts a unique downloadable audio trail, with the ability to bring the whole route to life.
The River Amber flows through the village which is well known for the Ashover show in August and the festival in September.
Ogston Reservoir is just 2½ miles away where guests can enjoy water sports, birdwatching and fishing.
Both Matlock and Matlock Bath with its cable car ride to Abraham Heights is only 3 miles, where you can tour the Mining Museum or walk alongside the River Derwent. Why not take a drive to Crich Tramway Museum, Chatsworth House, Bakewell or Haddon, which are all well worth a visit. The historical town of Chesterfield is around a 20-minute drive with its crooked spire and lively market. Shop 1 mile, pub with restaurant ¼ mile.
