This beautifully presented, open-plan style loft apartment is set on the grounds of the owner’s bespoke, oak-framed, self-built property. The ground floor features a tiled entrance with a modern, slimline electric panel heater and a shower room with a large shower cubicle and complimentary bath products. Stairs lead to an airy, bright, first-floor studio with a Velux window (great for watching the night sky), a flat-screen TV and a large sofa with a chaise, just right for putting your legs up after a tiring day or watching the red kites swooping and catching the thermals from the window. The kitchen area boasts an antique butcher’s block for serving and preparing meals, and there are even complimentary free-range eggs provided. Please note there are no laundry facilities on-site or nearby, so the property is not suitable for stays beyond 1 to 2 weeks. Shepherds Loft offers miles of off-road cycling and walking in the heart of rural South Oxfordshire and along the Chiltern Ridgeway.

A perfect retreat for nature lovers, you might even spot the nesting red kites and barn owls in the trees just outside your window or the rabbits and deer skipping in the fields. You’ll find ideas of what to do and where to go from a recommendations board sharing the best places to visit, walk, eat and drink, so the job of getting back to nature couldn’t be easier. Slow down and feel energised by the early morning sun and the sound of free-range chickens from a private garden overlooking a paddock. And if it’s sun downers and the stunning sunsets that you crave, then an amble through the woodland and into the top paddock will reward you with a table and chairs to enjoy the last of the day. With almost no light pollution the display of stars and constellations is breathtaking!
The property is set in a rural location, with the nearest shop a couple of miles away. Due to the location, there is no immediate public transport nearby. Great local pubs and restaurants can be found in Wallingford for snacks and evening meals - opening times vary and Sunday evenings can be tricky if you are looking to dine out.

The area has more than just countryside walking to inspire you with village links to Geoffrey Chaucer. Other places of interest nearby include the picturesque town of Henley-on-Thames, known most of the world over for its Royal Regatta held in the first week of July and its festivals running throughout the summer. Other places to visit include Greys Court, Nuffield Place, and Basildon Park, all National Trust properties. Harcourt Arboretum, the Earth Trust Centre, the Aston Martin Heritage Trust Museum and Wittenham Clumps, for stunning panoramic views of south Oxfordshire. Plenty of local golf courses in the area for golf enthusiasts and if trains are of interest, there is a large collection of steam locomotives at Didcot Railway Centre where you can also ride on the 1930’s trains. You’ll be spoilt for choice
