When you’re ready to begin exploring this historic town, begin with a trip to the famous Alnwick Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in the UK and used as ‘Hogwarts’ when filming scenes for the ‘Harry Potter’ films. The Alnwick Garden is an exciting visit with its spectacular formal garden, Grand Cascade waterfall, poison garden and the largest tree house in Europe where guests can dine in the restaurant.

Heading 4 miles east is the picture-perfect coastal village of Alnmouth with a gorgeous sandy beach, great local eateries and quaint shops. A short drive west brings you to the small town of Rothbury at the foot of the Simonside Hills where the River Coquet ebbs and flows, perfect for keen walkers and cyclists to explore. A 20-minute drive takes you to the harbour village of Seahouses offering a wide array of tearooms, fish and chip restaurants, pubs and shops. Boat trips to the Farne Islands run from the harbour. Horse riding is available on the cusp of the village and there is an impressive golf course on the links close by. Beautiful Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island are also an easy drive away, be sure to check the tide times! Beach within 4 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants are a 1-minute walk.
