Within the surrounding area, there are numerous public footpaths and cycleways through beautiful unspoilt countryside, riversides, moorland and woodland. Guests wishing to simply relax can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the cottage with its private courtyard, outdoor seating area, barbecue and private spa hot tub.
Inside the cottage the living area on the first floor is open plan and full of character with cosy sofas and a well-equipped kitchen and dining area. The two double bedrooms on the ground floor each have en-suite facilities with power showers, towels and bathrobes provided.
Ideally situated for exploring the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, The Cottage at Wilson House is close to Teesdale, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale which are becoming increasingly popular places for walkers and cyclists to explore and enjoy. Only 5 miles from the historic market town of Barnard Castle, guests must take a trip to the famous Bowes Museum as well as the old castle ruins. For guests wanting to travel a little further afield, there are excellent links along the A66 and the A1M.
The cathedral city of Durham can be reached within one hour’s drive north, as well as the historic city of York in the opposite direction. The beautiful fells of the Lake District are just over an hour’s drive west and to the east, guests will find the fabulous beaches and coastline of Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
Barnard Castle and Richmond are the closest towns and the nearest pub serving good food and real ale is at Greta Bridge, 1 mile away. There is a fine dining restaurant and tearoom in Barningham village and two farm shops with eateries within a 2 mile radius. Most major supermarkets also deliver orders.
