Spittal is a small picture seaside village sat on the southern bank of the river Tweed with the historic walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed on the other side offering great amenities activities to enjoy. The property is set on the promenade with direct access onto the promenade and long sandy beaches, children’s play park area and Splash Park. Enjoy the commanding views of the pier and lighthouse Spittal promenade beach and on a clear day Holy Island with wildlife including dolphins, seals, and numerous seabirds frequently seen from the large windows. Spittal is a great location for a holiday by the sea with a number of pubs, shops and supermarkets all within easy reach by car, or the local bus service which stops a few yards outside the property.
The historic Elizabethan market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is a short drive or half an hours stroll along the promenade and riverside. Enjoy the individual shops, cafés and amenities and walks around the Elizabethan walls. Discover the old castle ruins and many beautiful parks and the golf club. The Northumberland National Park is also accessible, boasting incredible opportunities for walking and cycling. The Northumberland Coastal Path and National Cycle Route One passes a few yards from the property with the highlights of the Northumberland coast including Alnwick Castle easily accessed.
The Scottish Border towns can be reached by car or public transport. The magnificent cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle packed with culture and great shopping are a 45 minute train journey away. Berwick Station provides a regular service. Beach 100 yards. Shop and pub 530 yards, restaurant ½ mile.
