Tucked away behind the owner’s home, in the picturesque coastal village of Longhoughton in Northumberland, is this quirky bolthole for two. Longhoughton is a popular village, lying between the coastal resorts of Alnmouth and the fishing village of Craster.
With great local amenities, there is a well-stocked supermarket within a few minutes’ walk, and two fabulous eateries both offering a variety of home cooked food. Opposite is the coffee shop where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, Sunday lunch and the most delicious homemade cakes. In the opposite direction is a pub which is dog friendly and has a great menu throughout the day and lovely cakes and pastries, eat outdoors or in with a very tempting gift shop on site too. There are some good pubs in the area too where you can enjoy a drink and lovely evening meal.
A short walk will take you the golden sugar sands beach. A hidden gem situated on the 20 mile stretch of Heritage coastline, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within a short drive you are truly spoilt for choice with the villages and towns of Alnmouth, Craster, Newton by the Sea, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Warkworth, Amble and Holy Island. A visit to the historic market town of Alnwick with a wide array of amenities including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops, a variety of pubs and eateries is a must. Famous for its part in Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, Alnwick Castle is a popular visitor attraction and a short stroll from the town centre.
A visit to Alnwick Gardens is a must with its formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and ’poison’ garden. A great day out for all the family and you can dine in the largest tree house restaurant in Europe. Barter books in Alnwick is a great stop off too especially in wintertime when you can pick a book from the shelf, settle in front of an open fire and enjoy an in-house coffee. There is so much to do in this beautiful part of Northumberland, a week is never enough! The Den makes for a perfect place to return to after a day of exploring to put your feet up, chill out and relax!
