Fully refurbished in 2021, providing stylish and spacious accommodation, is is decorated throughout in a calming colour palette and furnished for your comfort and relaxation. The living area is inviting and spacious, comfortably accommodating guests with a modern flicker flame fire. The separate dining room has a cosy nook with comfy chairs, and a large table, whether you are gathering for a hearty breakfast or celebratory supper. The modern gloss kitchen is well-equipped to cater for all your needs. The fun starts outside with an enclosed courtyard garden set with table and chairs for summer dining and a fabulous bubbling hot tub which is sure to be a winner! Perfect to return to after a day exploring, so grab your costume and enjoy a dip as the sun goes down. Off to bed and upstairs are two bedrooms and a family bathroom. The spacious master bedroom has a kingsize bed and a day bed which can be used for a child, or to give a flexible sleeping arrangement.
The second bedroom is a comfortable double. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over.
Guests may choose to have a relaxing time with many beautiful walks nearby. The village of Shincliffe is just a short stroll and en-route you can enjoy a hearty breakfast or home baked treats in the nearby tea shop, or a little further at the popular garden centre before heading out for your walk. There are several good pubs in the area serving food and the Pump House Restaurant for daytime coffees or Indian fayre in the evening. A children’s play park with extensive equipment and all weather facilities is located 200 meters from the cottage.
Just an 8 minute drive away or a beautiful walk along the river banks takes you to the historic city of Durham. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city is filled with a variety of historic sites and popular visitor attractions that are centuries old. Durham Castle and cathedral must be visited to appreciate the awe inspiring architecture. The Gala Theatre is located in the centre of the city, making the cottage a perfect location for guests wanting to enjoy a theatre trip as part of their break.
Packed with top quality restaurants, bistros, cafés and bars, Durham is a thriving city with plenty of entertainment at any time of the year. The incredible Lumiere Festival takes place every second November, enjoy the jazz festival, arts festival, miners gala and many more free attractions, as well as the weekly farmers’ market. The university colleges and campuses can be found nearby, and this is the ideal base to get to know the university and visit friends and family who might be attending one of the graduation ceremonies.
The top class cricket ground of Durham County Cricket Club is also only a 20-minute drive away, great for enjoying a test match or concert.
