The Sidings is a unique and charming shepherd’s hut set in 5 acres on an exclusive site, which guests have access to. This private piece of land is perfect for that romantic break or a treat away with the kiddies to experience something completely different. With its own private entrance and out of sight of the owner’s house who lives nearby, it’s a perfect little retreat to relax and unwind, and get away from the stress of modern day living.
Not far from the railway, hence named The Sidings, you may be lucky and spot The Flying Scotsman one day. The land, which is adjacent, is great for games with the children should you decide to bring them along on this unique adventure.

There is also a small woodland on the site, together with a country track on which to have an evening stroll. The owner keeps her own free-range chickens, and you are welcome to visit and collect your own breakfast. On a warm evening, why not light the fire pit and barbecue, and experience some outdoor country living in this unique spot.
Only 3 miles from Morpeth there is an abundance of cafés, high quality bars, restaurants and bistros, and some wonderful bespoke shops. The Heritage Coastline with miles of golden beaches is peppered with castles. Travel north to the enchanting tiny island of Lindisfarne, known as Holy Island, or spend the day in Alnwick where the Duke of Northumberland still resides in the 700-year-old castle.

If hiking is your thing, the Cheviots are perfect but if not, then perhaps take a day over to Cragside House in Rothbury, only a half hour away, the first house to be powered by hydroelectricity. A golf course is nearby in Morpeth as is the train station, where you can leave your car and hop on a train to Newcastle, Edinburgh or York. Newcastle is steeped in history; here you can admire the beautiful buildings on Grey Street and experience some wonderful food and drinks, then meander down to the Quayside and take a look at the Tyne Bridg
