Extra Amenities

The Black Bull is on the prettiest and most historic street in Appleby, a stunning 17th century grade II listed building in the historic market town. Once being the hotel to the neighbouring public house, it has served the local town and guests for centuries. You are instantly transported back in time once you are surrounded by many original features such as the exposed beams, flagged floors and doorways.
The local area is also steeped in history, just a few hundred yards from the front door at the top of Burougate is Appleby Castle, a 12th century keep, and in the opposite direction is St Lawrences Church on the banks of the River Eden, with elements dating back to the 12th century.

The property lies within the stunning Eden Valley with many quaint villages. Appleby is close to the course of a 268-mile National Trail, which passes by on its way from Middleton-in-Teesdale to nearby Dufton.

With High Cup Nick and Dufton Pike on the trail and just a short drive away you have some amazing walks and adventures, while the Lake District National Park is less than 30 minutes away in car. You can take a trip on a lake cruiser or enjoy the epic scenery only found in the Lake District National Par
