The market town of Kendal, 6 miles, has a castle, leisure centre, riverside walks and excellent variety of shops and restaurants. The high fells of Central Lakeland and the beautiful lakes of Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwent Water can be reached in about 40 minutes for climbing and scrambling or simply to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
