The Old Tearoom is part of the 15th century flour mill in the quiet village of Little Salkeld near Penrith in Cumbria and was once the old tearoom for the village offering fresh bakery goods from their own milled flour. Carefully renovated with a large modern open plan living area you can sit back and enjoy as you look out onto Sunny Gill beck as the water runs past.
Still a fully functioning flour mill you will be able to watch as the owners utilise the neighbouring water to power the twin wheels they need to create their high end local flour.
You will be spoilt for choice locally, be sure to visit Lacy’s Caves, five chambers carved out of the sandstone cliff with views of the river. Just a short walk from the village you will find Long Meg and her daughters, a stone circle from the Bronze age and one of the finest in the north of England.
Other local activities include, Hunsonby outdoor swimming pool open from April- September. There is also a family run equestrian centre just up the road, catering for all levels offering an abundance of activities.
The Old Tearoom can be booked with Sunny Gill View (UK32944) to accommodate 8 guests.
