Bellegrove Cottage is beautifully located, accessed by its own drive. The 22 acres of woodland behind Bellegrove has been added to the existing 30 acres. This covers a fell that overlooks Lake Ullswater. There is a walkway from the bottom of the wood through a gate. The ride heads north up to the edge of the wood and then turns back westerly and finally you come to an opening surrounded by gorse bushes. From here you have a spectacular view down the lake towards Howtown.
It has a large lawned garden with secluded sitting-out areas in which to enjoy the peacefulness and tranquility of the babbling brook. There are fantastic walks, and wildlife is often seen within the grounds, including roe deer, badger, fox, squirrels, buzzards, ravens and regular nesting ducks. Adjoining the discreet owners’ barn, the property has its own lake shore frontage just across the road, offering private fishing and the possibility of launching small craft such as a windsurfer, canoe or rubber dinghy.
Windsurfing, rowing and motorboat hire, sailing, golf, pony trekking and steamer cruises are available locally. The main shopping areas are in Penrith, 7 miles, and Pooley Bridge is just 1½ miles away with shops, tea rooms and pubs, and there is a restaurant within walking distanc
