Dating back to 1684, this exceptional farmhouse in Up Holland has been lovingly and extensively renovated over a two-year period, bringing a remarkable historic home back to life while introducing all the comforts of a luxurious modern stay. Its history and character can be seen throughout the house, while sustainability has been central to the renovation. An air-source heat pump, MVHR ventilation system and rainwater harvesting combine centuries-old charm with thoughtful, energy-conscious technology.
Indian stone floors, exposed brickwork and beautiful beams give the property a wonderful sense of character, complemented by carefully considered contemporary touches. Underfloor heating runs throughout, while a wood-burning stove makes the living room especially inviting.
Sleeping 8 guests across four bedrooms, the house is ideal for families and groups looking to spend quality time together. Two bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities, alongside a family bathroom.

In keeping with the proportions and character of this historic home, two of the bathrooms feature beautiful roll-top baths with shower attachments rather than conventional full-height showers.
The spacious kitchen is designed for sociable stays, with bifold doors opening directly onto the outside space – perfect for long breakfasts, relaxed dinners and summer evenings. Younger guests have their own dedicated PlayStation corner, too.
Outside, the property really comes into its own with a fantastic private wellness area. Sink into the hot tub, warm up in the sauna, brave the ice bath or cool down beneath the outdoor cold-water rainfall shower. A pergola with comfortable seating provides a lovely spot for morning coffee, evening drinks or simply unwinding together.
The location is also a great base for exploring the North West. Beacon Country Park is just a few minutes away, offering acres of countryside and walking trails, while Haydock Park and Aintree Racecourse are around 15–20 minutes by car, making the property a great choice for race days.

Liverpool can be reached in around 30–40 minutes, while Manchester is approximately 40–50 minutes away, depending on traffic. Alternatively, Up Holland train station is just 1 mile from the property, providing another convenient option for days out.
For a day by the sea, Southport and the coast are around 30 minutes away. Closer to home, Skelmersdale provides supermarkets, shops and everyday essentials, with traditional pubs and places to eat in Up Holland itself and the surrounding villages.
Full of history, warmth and individuality, this is a special place to gather, relax and enjoy time together - whether you’re cosying up beside the fire, exploring the North West or making the most of your own private spa
