Ulverston is the Birthplace of Stan Laurel, and tribute is paid to the famous comedy double act via the Laurel and Hardy Museum, located underneath The Roxy cinema. Ulverston hosts numerous festivals and events throughout the year ranging from Fine Fest to the lantern parade or the ever-popular Dickensian Festival Christmas Markets.
If walking is your passion, you only need to step outside the door and a short 2-minute walk finds you at the start of the Cumbrian Way or a 20-minute drive and you arrive at the world-famous Lake Windermere. You can choose to take the lake ferry or, if you prefer, venture onto the water by hiring your own motorboat, paddleboard or kayak.
Whether you are visiting with family or friends there is something for everyone. Kids will enjoy Go Ape, high ropes adventure or the Safari Zoo or aquarium, and for the grownups, there are museums, stately homes, Michelin star restaurants, escape rooms, or how about a day at Cartmel Races, just to mention a few of the treats on offer? Don’t forget the fun is set against the fantastic backdrop of the stunning hills and Lakes of the Lake District. Beach 2 miles. Pub and restaurant 150 yards.
