The tree growing outside the cottage is a large pear tree, loaded with fruit and this gives the cottage its name. St Mellion is well known for the golf club which attracts many visitors. A 10-minute drive will take you into Devon, across the Tamar Bridge spanning the large tidal estuary dividing Devon and Cornwall. On the south coast, there are some delightful picturesque seaside villages to visit including Downderry and Looe, and the long sandy beaches at Whitsand Bay. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
