Nestled in the lush Devonshire countryside on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Forge Cottage is a Grade II Listed gem rich in history. Once serving as both a post office and doctor’s surgery, as well as the local blacksmith’s smithy, it retains echoes of its past including an old grinding stone set into the garden lawn.
This charming, thatched cottage is full of original features, including wooden beams, stunning oak doors, and a charming bake oven. The inviting living room with plush blue and burnt orange seating, TV and wood burning stove. The room is accented by wood panelling, original flagstone flooring, creating the perfect cosy retreat.

Adjacent is a snug, ideal for relaxation, offering bean bags, a sofa, a fun wicker bucket chair, and a second TV. The kitchen diner captures true cottage charm, complete with a window seat, rustic bench style seating, and a feature fireplace with an inset electric wood burner. Upstairs, three delightful bedrooms await. The main room offers a kingsize bed, elegant wooden furniture, and oak floors, while a quaint double and cosy twin, each with charming window seats, invite relaxation. A family bathroom with a shower over the bath provides a soothing end to a day of exploring. Outside, the rear garden offers a tranquil haven with a secluded corner sofa and table set by an apple tree, perfect for enjoying morning coffee or a little al fresco dining.


A short stroll away, the village inn offers culinary delights and nearby tennis court and a playpark keep guests off all ages entertained. With Exmoor to the north, with it’s wild ponies, rolling green hills and beautiful vistas; Devon’s beaches to the south, including Sidmouth and Seaton endless day trips await you. The M5 motorway is a short distance away, conveniently linking you with Cornwall and Somerset too, including the bustling market town of Taunton with it’s restaurants, shops and superb steam railway.
