Mallard Roundhouse is a quirky and unique one-bedroom retreat overlooking the fishing lakes at Ponsford Ponds, which is located just 5 minutes from Cullompton on the fringe of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is the ultimate glamping experience with an open-plan bedroom, kitchen, dining and living area, a shower room and a lovely decked area next to the lake. The space has a two-seater sofa, Smart TV, a wood burner (with a 3 day supply of wood provided free of charge) and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen is fitted with the essentials which include a microwave convection oven, a portable 2-ring electric hob, sink and an under-the-counter fridge with an icebox. Within the same room is a comfortable super kingsize zip and link bed which can be split into twin 3ft beds if requested at the time of booking. Outside, guests will enjoy private use of their own decked area overlooking the lake with a set of table and chairs.
Ponsford Ponds offers private fishing at no additional cost. Mallard Roundhouse is located on a ½-acre, beautiful, mature specimen pond. There are mirror and common carp weighing up to 24lb. During 2021, guests can also fish the main 2-acre lake with carp up to 18lb. The M5 motorway is just a 10-minute drive from the accommodation, the town of Cullompton is a 5-minute drive and the cathedral city of Exeter is 20 minutes. The award-winning North Devon coastline is within an hour’s drive with its golden sandy surfing beaches, and the fascinating Jurassic South Devon coastal beauty spots are within a 30-minute drive. The National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are both within an easy 50-minute drive, showcasing rolling wild green moorlands where you will find breathtaking scenery. Cullompton is located on the fringe of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and provides stunning scenery and picturesque walks.
This traditional market town has a wide range of independent shops, cafés and public houses. Coldharbour Woollen Mill can be found just outside of the town centre, as can the National Trust properties of Killerton and Knightshayes.
