Extra Amenities
Brooke Cottage, a cosy hideaway located in the heart of the coastal town of Ilfracombe, was reputedly part of Ilfracombe’s zoo. Now, this detached cottage, adjacent to the owners’ home, makes an ideal base from which to explore this great part of north Devon. The comfortable interior is complemented by a small private courtyard area, and guests also have the added benefit of the facilities at Ilfracombe Holiday Park, located just opposite the property.
Here, guests will have full access to the swimming pool (£2. 50), restaurant, entertainment and other facilities (charges apply). A real bonus! Located within walking distance of Ilfracombe’s pretty harbour and attractions, including Damien Hirst’s ’Verity’, which stands guard over the harbour entrance. Some of these attractions and sights include the Victorian Tunnels Beaches, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and the Lynton to Lynmouth cliff railway.
At Croyde and Woolacombe, you will find some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor is a short distance away, and on a clear day the views can be spectacular. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knightshayes, and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor at Great Torrington. Beach ¾ mile. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
