A comfortable and cosy thatched cottage forming part of a wing of the owner’s impressive 15th-century thatched house. The holiday cottage has been presented to ensure a contemporary feel but still retaining plenty of character including beams and inglenook fireplace. The cottage is spread over two floors with a large living/dining area and kitchen, and then up stairs is a double bedroom and a bathroom. Situated outside the village of North Tawton, the cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding Devon countryside.
The regional town of Okehampton is close by and is considered the gateway to Dartmoor National Park. The town also provides a good range of shops and amenities.
On Dartmoor, there are plenty of walks for all ages and abilities to enjoy this stunning and dramatic area as well as some pretty villages with pubs and tea rooms. Towards the coast there are many fine beaches and coves including Saunton, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! A trip to Lundy Island can be arranged from Bideford pier.
There are numerous places of interest close by including the R.H.S. gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. Visit the last castle to be built in England at Castle Drogo (National Trust). There is golf at Okehampton and Ashbury, or you can hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail at Great Torrington.
