Located in the centre of Portreath, The Chalet is a newly renovated, small and cosy property with a two-minute, flat walk to the beach. An ideal surf or walking base, The Chalet has a safe outside area for surfboards and wetsuits. The small family friendly village has a great choice of pubs, restaurants and cafés, a local shop and a bakery. The gently sloping sandy beach is great for kids, surfers, body boarders, kyakers, paddle-boarders and swimmers. You can also take a dip in the various small natural sea baths cut into the cliffs and sea wall.

Cornwall is renowned for its miles of rugged coastline, a great way to see the wildlife and forna at all times of the year. Godrevy beach is connected by the Southwest Coast Path or a 15-minute drive; a beautiful three-mile expanse of golden sand dunes, a seal sanctuary and views of the famous Lighthouse.

A ten-minute drive in the other direction is the beach resort of Porthtowan with more beautiful beaches, great waves and beach-side restaurants and bars.

If you fancy a break from the water and incredible coastal scenes, after a 30-minute walk inland through the enchanting Illogan woods and along the mining trail, you find yourself in Tehidy Woods: a woodland wonderland. Cornwall’s fascinating mining heritage is there to discover in Redruth and Camborne, visit East Pool Mine, Heartlands Mining Museum or walk up to the Carn Brae monument for a spectacular view of the Coastline. Golf is available at Tehidy Park or the Famous Nine Golf Course.

For kids and rainy days, Base Camp is located just up the hill and has Cornwall’s largest indoor softplay area, a Clip’n’Climb and a café.

A short drive down the road is ‘Hydro Kernow’ a saltwater indoor pool, and ‘The Track’ provides family friendly dirt track and jumps. The South West’s largest indoor skate park, Mount Hawke is just round the corner too.

Portreath is centrally located on the North coast of Cornwall so for those wishing to explore a little more of Cornwall, Truro, Falmouth, St Ives and Newquay are all not far away offering a choice of visiting the Tate Modern, Truro Cathedral, Trebah Botanical Gardens, Enys Gardens and Lamorna Gardens as well as the famous Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project in St Austel
