The Granary is a detached 200 year old barn conversion, has underfloor heating, beams, spacious bedrooms and a south facing garden with a private hot tub. There is also a table and chairs which is perfect for al fresco dining. It is situated on the owners’ 200-acre working dairy and beef farm, and the owners are happy to show children around. The farm is surrounded by numerous public footpaths extending through the farm and beyond, along fields and tracks. The location is perfect for days at the beach, being 40-minutes from the north and south coastline. North Devon has a choice of unspoilt sandy beaches for surfers and water sports, and the south coast offers more varied attractions such as mackerel fishing and cream teas.
This is a peaceful location but only 2 miles from Tiverton, where you will find many independent shops, cafés and restaurants. There are so many places to visit, including Exmoor, an ½-hour drive, and Dartmoor, a 45 minute drive. For a great family day out visit Diggerland or Crealy. The Blackdown Hills and many National Trust properties are all within a short drive, including Heathcote, Killerton and Coldharbour Steam Mill. Tiverton Canal, home to one of the last horse-drawn barges in the UK and located in mid Devon on the banks of the Grand Western Canal, is a tourist attraction that offers an enjoyable family day out.
The Grand Western Canal is a local nature reserve and is teeming with wildlife, and things to do and see. With free access to the canal all year round, walkers, cyclists, anglers and boat enthusiasts can enjoy 11 miles of quiet and unspoilt waterway which will lead you through Devon’s beautiful countryside.
There is a wealth of other great walks on the Quantock Hills, Exmoor, and the Devon and Somerset legs of the South West Coastal Path. In addition there is the beautiful walk around Wimbleball Lake with its wildlife trail. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
