Now a welcoming holiday home, it has a superb kitchen, beams, inglenook fireplaces and some exposed rafters. The Beaford area is marvellous walking territory; there are riverbank, moorland and country lane walks, and Chaplands is ideally placed for walking through the beautiful north Devon countryside. At the end of the day, refresh yourself in one of the very good, local, unspoiled country pubs in nearby villages such as Dolton, Winkleigh, Roborough and Iddesleigh, where Michael Morpurgo’s ’War Horse’ is set.
