A short drive away is the market town of Beverley with its racecourse and medieval Minster. Antique and crafts shops nestle down historic alleys - as well as some unexpected sights - enter St Mary's Church to see a statue of a familiar rabbit, immortalised as the March Hare in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland!
Just 25 miles away from these country cottages is the gorgeous city of York, where attractions in abundance will compete for your attention: the city is home to the oldest Gothic Cathedral this side of the Alps, the wonderful York Minster. Visit the Castle Museum for fascinating recreations of Edwardian and Victorian streetlife, while a trip to the terrifying York Dungeon is not for the faint-hearted! York offers a variety of shopping - one of the prettiest streets, Stonegate, has exclusive stores in its historic heart, and in the medieval Shambles, timberclad houses overhang the narrow flagstoned lanes, providing an atmospheric place to hunt for souvenirs. Shopping done, visit the technologically impressive JORVIK Centre, or, for more recent history, the National Railway Museum, the largest of its kind in the world, makes a happy day out for children large and small.
For beach lovers, these lovely character cottages are close to the East coast of Yorkshire too - only 30 miles away you can bask on a 10 mile stretch of sand in the resort town of Bridlington, or if it rains other attractions such as Flamingo Land, the Yorkshire Air Museum and Castle Howard, one of Britain's most famous stately homes, will keep the youngsters entertained.
It goes without saying that Yorkshire is a walker's paradise - the Wold's Way is on your doorstep, making this a superb location for a walking break or for a cycling vacation through beautiful countryside.
These cottages are in an excellent location with plenty of activities on offer for all the family. Why not 2, 3 or 4 cottages together for a wonderful base for a family reunion or to host a special celebration among friends.
Red House Farm Holiday Cottages is a wonderful collection of superbly presented brick cottages situated in a quiet rural location 6 miles from Beverley, in North Yorkshire. Each of the cottages can accommodate 6 people, comprising two bedrooms, one double, one twin, and an additional sofabed that can sleep two children if required. There are lovely features throughout these immaculately decorated cottages - a bright open plan lounge with a wood burning stove, wood beamed ceilings and a real oak floor, makes for a modern yet cosy feel in all weathers. A plasma screen TV with DVD and Freeview provides a perfect opportunity to curl up with a glass of wine in a comfortable armchair and your favourite film after a day at the races. The kitchen in each cottage has quality fitted units and tiling in earthy tones, and is equipped with all the modern conveniences needed for self-catering in comfort - a microwave, oven and hob, washing machine, and dishwasher. There is a breakfast bar with seating for 4, where you can enjoy a homecooked family meal, after a day exploring the Yorkshire countryside on foot or bicycle.
Four people can be accommodated in the double and twin bedroom on the upper level, which also houses a family bathroom with bath, overhead shower, washhand basin and WC.
