Whilst the house is only occasionally snowed in, particularly between December and February, it is best suites to the able bod The surrounding fields and heather moorland are home to an abundance of wildlife, including lapwing, curlew and red grouse.

The moors, footpaths and bridleways are on your doorstep, and Kildale’s small train station is on the glorious Esk Valley line to the ancient seaport of Whitby, passing through Goathland, Heartbeat’s village; you can even enjoy the leisurely journey by steam.

Explore the heritage coast and sandy beaches of Yorkshire with seaside towns such as Saltburn, Whitby and Scarborough within easy reach, and fishing villages including Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay.
