Situated in the tiny hamlet of Esk Valley, Cobb’s Cottage is a former miner’s cottage dating back to the 1800s but with a modern interior. This terraced cottage has a living/dining room, kitchen and bathroom, which are all on the ground floor and three bedrooms upstairs. All three bedrooms benefit from fantastic views out into the countryside, and railway enthusiasts will enjoy the North York Moors Steam Railway - when the engines pass it almost feels as though they are passing through your window.
A great photo opportunity!
There are many public walkways in the area, including an old horse drawn railway track, which you can find almost on the door, with other routes into Goathland and Grosmont, where you can catch a steam train into Whitby or Pickering. Even though you’re surrounded by peace and tranquillity, there is still plenty to do in the area with the wonderful seaside town of Whitby a short drive away with cobbled back streets, many places to eat and drink, and 199 steps up to the famous Whitby Abbey for views out to sea and back across the town.
There are many hidden gems dotted along the coastline such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, as well as traditional moorland villages to enjoy, theme parks, Scarborough open air theatre and so much more to see and do from this excellent base in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Beach 9½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Spoilt for choice - farmstay or cottage on the coast? Yorkshire is tourists heaven. You will see cottages that are pet friendly in Yorkshire Dales, Harrogate or Thirsk - some have off road parking.
