Forge View Cottage is a wonderful holiday location positioned on the doorstep of Dalby Forest within the vast and magnificent North York Moors. A marvellous holiday location, there is easy access to the beautiful east coast, the historic city of York and a whole host of fascinating places to visit. Outstanding comfort and style of this cottage, combined with a superb location making this an ideal all-year holiday destination.
Forge View is a characterful cottage with the building originating back to the late 1700s and was later converted from the local village tailors shop. The delightful setting includes a secluded courtyard to ensure a relaxing environment after a busy day out. This lovely spacious cottage retains much character with fireplaces and beams. Immaculately maintained, warm, clean and superbly well-equipped with free high speed Wi-Fi, Forge View is truly a ‘home from home’. No wonder so many visitors return time and again.
The charming village of Thornton Le Dale is a delight - old fashioned friendliness with an unhurried pace of life.
The village has everything you could need, yet still retains its quaint village beauty, with the chocolate box thatched cottages and Almshouses. The tranquil Thornton Beck flows through the village and runs outside the front of the cottage. The village pond is always popular with children feeding the ducks. On the village green there’s the original stocks and market cross where on Sundays during the summer months local bands plays music to entertain you whilst you sit back and enjoy one of the wonderful ice creams the village is renowned for.
Only a couple of miles away is the traditional Yorkshire market town of Pickering, which combines atmospheric old inns, 12th-century castle, museum, remarkable medieval frescoes in the local church, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway taking visitors on a nostalgic steam train journey through the spectacular heather-clad moorland scenery.
The ancient City of York is just 26 miles away offers the majestic minster, the fascinating Jorvik Viking Centre, the Castle Museum, the National Railway Museum, and excellent shopping facilities. Castle Howard, setting for TV’s Brideshead Revisited, Nunnington Hall (National Trust), Duncombe Park, and Rievaulx Abbey, are just a few of the local treasures to discover.
On the east coast lie the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough,15 miles, and Filey,19 miles, the serene fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay and the captivating old port of Whitby (20 miles), with its Captain Cook connections, as well as miles of sandy beaches and a colourful harbour. Just a 10 minute drive away visitors can enjoy Flamingo Land or Dalby Forest, where there are a plethora of woodland walks, a visitors centre, picnic areas, bikes to hire and the popular ’Go Ape’.
