This is a fabulous cottage, welcoming guests on a stay in Yorkshire to treasure. Throughout the ground floor you have underfloor heating as well as an open fire, ensuring a cosy, warm stay all year round. On the ground floor you have a quintessential country kitchen, well equipped for creating home cooked family meals using fresh local ingredients, including newly laid eggs from the neighbouring chickens. Savour family time together around the dining table, planning the events for the days ahead over dinner.
The living room is bathed in light from the large sash window, which looks out into the lawned garden and paddock beyond, which is shared with the neighbouring owner. Complete with a private seating area and your own BBQ, so that you can make the most of sunny afternoons during your stay. Up on the first floor you have the most incredible master bedroom, boasting a kingsize bed, a dressing table and inbuilt wardrobe as well as the most fabulous freestanding roll top bath with a rain shower over.
The bath is a grand feature, and quite a novelty for guests. There is also a double bedroom as well as a twin bedroom, both with wardrobes and drawers for your belongings. Each room is beautifully themed and named after different dales in the surrounding National Park, Rosedale – the heart of the moors, Ryedale – surrounding the market town of Pickering, and Farndale – which is renowned for the blankets of daffodils that stretch out along the river through the spring.
In Lastingham you have a brilliant traditional pub just a short stroll away, which is very popular with locals and travellers alike. They serve hearty meals, with a large beer garden for the summer and an open fire for the winter. There is also a picturesque church, with a vault to explore.
Nearby are the market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering - all with attractive market squares, independent shops and quaint tea rooms.
The heritage steam railway between Pickering and Whitby is not to be missed. Do explore the nearby castle in Helmsley as well as the walled gardens, plus Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard. Eden Camp, Ryedale Folk Museum and Flamingoland are also popular attractions nearby. Less than an hour away you have the incredible Yorkshire Coastline to discover, with picturesque villages and towns, golden sandy beaches and hidden coves to explore. Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough are all fabulous days out.
Your dogs are welcome to join you; there are lots of delightful walking trails nearby they will love, and many pubs and cafés in this area are dog friendly. This is a great destination all year round, a marvellous choice for those who enjoy the great outdoors.
Home comforts in a log cabin or family beach holiday house? Yorkshire is a bucket list choice to visit. There is plenty of short breaks with dogs in York, Harrogate or Yorkshire coast - some have off road parking.
