Cleveland Way Cottage is set in the small coastal village community of Skinningrove located on the Cleveland Way in between Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Staithes, where the Yorkshire Moors meet the North Sea. Step outside the front door and you’re literally on the Cleveland Way which offers some amazing coastal walks all along the stunning Yorkshire Heritage Coastline. This former fisherman’s cottage has been renovated to a very good standard with tasteful decor and furnishings throughout, providing an excellent base for couples and families looking for a seaside/countryside holiday. All the windows to the front of the property have uninterrupted views of the sea. There’s even a wood burner in the living room to warm you up after a winters’ walk or, in summer, the lovely little sitting-out area is perfect for catching a bit of sunshine.
Skinningrove is an ideal base for exploring the area. The main attraction has to be the two fantastic bays right on the doorstep, one of which featured in the ’top 20 hidden beaches in the UK’. They form part of the stunning Yorkshire Heritage Coast with its towering cliffs, sandy beaches and traditional seaside resorts. The wonderful fishing town of Whitby is just 12 miles away so you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of cobbled back streets, events and festivals such as the Goth Weekender and the Whitby Regatta, and then return to the sound of the waves and beautiful quiet beaches.
Head inland and explore more of the North York Moors National Park. Quaint, pretty villages such as Grosmont and Goathland are a short drive away. For a different experience why not catch the steam train to ’Heartbeat Country’ or take a boat trip out to sea for a wonderful view of the Yorkshire coast. For the active there is everything from surfing and swimming to fishing and golf and for keen bird watchers the RSPB visitor centre at Saltholme attracts rare species throughout the year thanks to it unique landscape. Beach 10 yards. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 400 yards.
