Essex self-catering holiday cottages to rent

Essex holiday cottages allow you to explore the county’s lesser-known locations – smaller, picturesque hamlets are popular. Close proximity to Suffolk also gives you an easy route to Constable country, or if you want a City experience, take a day trip into London. The area is very well connected via road and train – London Liverpool Station is just an hour from Colchester.

Essex is a large county in East Anglia with a large coastal area, London is to the South West, Suffolk to the North and Hertfordshire to the West. Essex has some fantastic scenery and some incredibly old and beautiful villages. Chelmsford is in the centre of Essex but Colchester is probably its best known town. Dating back before the Romans, Colcheter is England's oldest recorded town and as you can imagine it has a huge range of architecture. Essex has a range of holiday homes to accommodate all sizes of holiday groups from two to twenty. From Oak framed buildings to Georgian mansions there is something for everyone.

The coastline has some really nice villages and probably the most well know part is Maldon and the Blackwater River. It is known for its great sailing area as well as its table salt. In fact there are 35 islands in Essex! Clacton and Southend are larger seaside towns and Southend has the longest pier in England. Inland there is much to do in Essex. Apart from the scenery, Gardens and Houses there are many attractions to see as well as activities.
