Essex is a large county in East Anglia with a large coastal area, London is to the South West, Suffolk to the North and Hertfordshire to the West. The coastline has some really nice villages and probably the most well know part is Maldon and the Blackwater River. It is known for its great sailing area as well as its table salt. In fact there are 35 islands in Essex! Clacton and Southend are larger seaside towns and Southend has the longest pier in England. Inland there is much to do in Essex.
