Dreaming of a holiday on the riverside? These wonderful houseboats are moored alongside the River Ant and offer comfortable and modern accommodation with views across the Staithe. River fishing is available right on the doorstep (seasonal and licence required). Daily motor launches are available for hire from the boatyard for guests wishing to explore further afield. The Norfolk Broads are best explored by water, having miles and miles of waterways to explore and plenty of riverside refreshment opportunities along the way, as well as plenty of nature and bird life.
The five houseboats (refs UK12693, UK12694, UK12695, UK12696 and UK12697) enjoy a pleasant mooring adjacent to the boatyard, on the upper reaches of the River Ant and Barton Broad. Each houseboat offers light and airy open plan accommodation, complete with modern day fittings, and are compact but very comfortable. The houseboats are not motorised, they are kept stationery at a fixed point to the land to provide all utilities.
The open plan living area opens onto a small, outdoor seating platform with two chairs. From here you step off to a large grassed area with a barbecue area shared by all the houseboats, each having your own picnic bench for further al fresco dining opportunities. The grassed area is located along the riverside enjoying more wonderful riverside views, and of course further fishing opportunities. Stalham Staithe itself is a small riverside hamlet with a restaurant, and is within walking distance from all the amenities of Stalham.
Just 20 minutes’ drive are many Norfolk Broads villages and Norfolk’s amazing coastline, with wide sandy beaches backed with sand dunes. The Norfolk Broads Museum is located on the opposite side of the river, a few minutes’ walk or row across, where you can discover the history of boating and The Broads. The village of Stalham provides a host of amenities including a supermarket, shops, pub and restaurants.
Wroxham, known as the capital of the Broads, is just 8 miles away with shops, restaurants and a train station for trains to the seaside and the city of Norwich. It is also a station stop for the Bure Valley Railway, a steam miniature railway running between Aylsham and Wroxham.
A great family fun day out can be had at BeWILDerwood, a tree top adventure in Horning. The seaside resort of Sea Palling is 5 miles away, or for quieter sandy beaches, take a trip to Waxham and Horsey. The city of Norwich makes for a great day out, with its cathedral, theatre, castle museum, excellent shopping, restaurants and cafés. Enjoy a day at the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, only 16 miles away. The Weavers Way runs through the town and provides good walking and cycling opportunities. Beach 5 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub 1 mile and restaurant 5 yards.
