With inspiring walks along the Paston Way from the adjacent meadow, where a whole habitat of wildlife can be found, including deer, hares, badgers and birds. Also very close by lies the stunning Mundesley beach, which consistently achieves a Blue Flag award. Here you will find some glorious sandy beaches which offer great sun-bathing and winter walking opportunities.
Venture a little further however and you can explore the bustling seaside town of Cromer, with its numerous seaside attractions and great places to eat, drink and shop. Take a walk along the Edwardian seafront and explore the pier, which is perfect for a coffee and the opportunity to savour some famous Cromer Crab. It also boasts the last seasonal end of pier show of its kind, a must for a truly rounded seaside experience. Head west to Blakeney for a spot of crabbing or east and discover all the fun of the fair and heaps more on Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile. In fact, coast lovers will be spoilt for choice with a range of coastal habitats ready to be explored including sand dunes, salt marshes and wide sand or shingle beaches. Head inland a little and visit Wroxham, the gateway to the Norfolk Broads. Here you can charter your own boat for the day or join a tour that drifts along these much-celebrated waterways. You can even take a nostalgic journey by steam train on the Bure Valley Railway enjoying the scenic countryside as you travel to the popular market town of Aylsham.
For a change of pace, head to the historic city of Norwich, either by car or from nearby Gunton Train Station. There is so much to explore in this fine city which is a regular on City Break Hotlists. Try a tour around the Norman castle or one of the numerous museums, galleries or theatres and then do a bit of shopping on the award-winning market or in the medieval courtyards and renowned Norwich Lanes. Add in the Thursford and Muckleburgh Collections, The Felbrigg, Blickling, Holkham and Sandringham Estates, Amazonia Zoo, Bewilderwood, Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, RSPB Cley Marshes, Sheringham Park, North Norfolk Railway and so very much more and you will soon see why guests flock to this area time and time again.
