Perfect for couples or a small family wishing to holiday in the pretty county of Suffolk with its many attractions. Lavenham Red Brick Cottage is situated in the heart of Lavenham with everything on the doorstep. The village is regarded as a ‘food capital’ with many award-winning and wonderful places to eat and drink a few yards away, and booking is essential for some. The high street is host to a variety of interesting shops, boutiques, galleries, beauticians and there is also a well-known village butcher and baker. Local venues host events all year round including music, poetry and literature. The cottage is within easy reach of the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds and the coastal villages of Southwold and Aldeburgh. Lavenham Red Brick Cottage has its own small enclosed courtyard, perfect for enjoying that morning coffee and dining al fresco.
This terraced cottage is cosy and beautifully furnished, and is a perfect retreat to return to after a day out exploring Suffolk with its beaches, stately homes, quaint villages and much more.
Lavenham is regarded as one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval villages in the UK, also one of the wealthiest areas in the country during the 12th to 16th century where the gentry stamped their mark. It boasts a wealth of listed timber framed buildings, now protected by English Heritage, and is just 2 hours by car or train from London. This very unique village was created some 750 years ago by Henry III when he granted Lavenham ’market’ status, and today, regular farmers markets are held.
Bury St Edmunds is 11 miles away and Colchester is 18 miles, which boasts many shops, bars and restaurants. Ipswich, with its harbour and marina, is 19 miles and offers a great day out with walking access into the town with its shops. For a more coastal scene, take a drive to the Suffolk coastline with its beautiful beaches and RSPB reserves. Visit the amazing beaches at the traditional seaside resorts of Aldeburgh, 41 miles, and Southwold, 51 miles. Thetford Forest, 24 miles, has 18,730 hectares of woodlands to explore including a designated circular cycle route and walking trails for all abilities. Shop 175 yards, pub serving food 350 yards.
