Escape to the idyllic Nottinghamshire countryside with a stay in our cosy shepherd’s hut, perfectly positioned on a working farm in the charming village of Laneham. Tucked into a quiet corner of the field, the hut offers peaceful views and the delightful company of our miniature Shetland ponies, who are always happy to greet guests with a friendly nuzzle. The surrounding area is rich in charm and natural beauty.
Inside the shepherd’s hut, comfort meets rustic charm with a full-sized bed, a small kitchenette, and a cosy atmosphere. Outside, you can sit with a morning coffee or evening drink and simply take in the views.
Just a short stroll from the hut, you’ll find the River Trent, perfect for scenic walks, riverside picnics, or a bit of birdwatching.

Laneham itself is home to two traditional pubs, both within walking distance, serving excellent food and drinks in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you fancy a hearty meal after a country walk or a relaxed drink in a beer garden, you’re well catered for.
The location is ideal for exploring the wider region. The historic city of Lincoln, with its stunning cathedral, cobbled streets, and independent shops, is just 25 minutes away by car. Newark, another characterful market town known for its antique fairs and castle ruins, is also a short drive.

Closer to home, the town of Retford (15 minutes away) provides all essential amenities, along with a regular market and a lovely park for relaxed afternoons. Though our farm is a working agricultural and construction site, vehicle movement is limited, and the area remains tranquil throughout most of the day, particularly in the evenings and at weekends. You’ll enjoy the gentle sounds of nature, starry night skies, and a sense of escape.
Whether you’re seeking a romantic break, a solo retreat, or a base to explore Nottinghamshire, this shepherd’s hut offers a peaceful and picturesque getaway.
