Located on the edge of the Peak District, Freebirch Barn is a restful rural retreat that has been sympathetically converted to a very good standard, it offers light and airy, tastefully decorated but cosy and characterful accommodation which is furnished and fitted also to a good standard. The through lounge and kitchen has a solid oak floor, skirting’s and internal doors with a solid ash handcrafted kitchen with granite work tops.
Situated in the owner’s grounds, Freebirch Barn is accessed by a private lane, you can unwind in peace and tranquillity in the midst of the rural Peak District countryside. The barn is conveniently placed for days out walking or wandering around local market towns and picturesque villages. Freebirch is the perfect location to discover the beauty of the Peak District and has some of the country’s finest stately homes.
Chatsworth House is 2 miles from Freebirch Barn, based less than a 5 minute drive to Baslow village centre which has its quaint shops, pubs, cafes and numerous restaurants. The entrance to Chatsworth Estate is here so why not walk into Chatsworth park from the village green and enjoy its spectacular acres of greenery, rolling fields and woodland. The short walk takes you to Chatsworth House which has one of the finest and most magnificent gardens in Britain and is the official residence of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Chatsworth House also has a farm and children’s adventure park, and the farm shop selling the estates produce all open to the public.
Bakewell is close by with its picturesque river flowing through its centre and also its bustling market day every Monday. Take a stroll by the river, feed the ducks or visit the numerous shops, perhaps eat out in one of the many restaurants or cafes and then hire a bike and cycle down the Monsal Trail.
Two minutes down the road from Bakewell, en route to Matlock, is Haddon Hall, another well known historic home. It has beautiful cottage-style gardens with the historic stately home well-known for being used as the setting for the film ’Jane Eyre’.
Freebirch Barn is surrounded by pretty villages, breathtaking countryside and yet offers easy access to numerous interesting locations. Chesterfield is only a 20 minute drive away with its own old market and shopping centre. Sheffield is only a 30 minute drive away and has its own selection of restaurants and cafes and also has the Lyceum and the Crucible Theatre with the Meadowhall shopping complex on its outskirts towards junction 34 of the M1.
