Location is key, easily accessible just off the A1, central location and excellent transport links to Peterborough, Leicester, and Nottingham, meaning that Stoke Rochford really does have it all. A short drive away you will discover the place Sir Walter Scott described as ‘the finest stone town’ in England: Stamford with its cobbled courtyards and alleys give way to unique boutiques and sweet cafés, making it perfect for a weekend escape.
Stamford’s position on the Great North Road meant it was a major trading post with wool a speciality, and many majestic old stone buildings remain. It is a big town, fully able to cater for every need with galleries, pubs, museums and more, and its old charm made it a prime TV spot: Pride and Prejudice and Middlemarch were filmed here.
The major hubs of Northampton and Cambridge are nearby, as is the market town of Melton Mowbray, a portal for gourmet travellers: several food festivals happen here, from chocolate to cheese. Rutland Water Park provides fun for all the family with walking and cycling routes, fishing and watersports
