Michill Cottage can be found on a quiet lane off the old market square in the beautiful and popular honeypot village of Castleton. Dating back to the 17th century, this stone-built, cosy, terraced cottage, typical of its era and with original features such as oak beams, offers warm and welcoming accommodation in the heart of the Peak District National Park. A perfect location to give your car a rest, Castleton is home to a wide choice of cafés and inns (many of which are dog friendly), in addition to a local village store, all of which are just a short stroll from the door.
Walkers, runners and cyclists of all abilities can also embark on a good variety of routes directly from the cottage, including the limestone gorge of Cave Dale which is just a 5-minute walk away. The views of the surrounding area are simply stunning, and Castleton is also home to a variety of tourist attractions including four underground show caves and Peveril Castle, perched high on a cliff.
It makes a great base for visiting surrounding attractions including Bakewell, Buxton and the National Trust’s Lyme Park and Chatsworth House all of which can be reached in around half an hour. For thrill seekers Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers can be reached in around an hour. Shop 550 yards, pub and restaurant 350 yards.
