This detached barn conversion overlooks the village of Ashover. With a commanding position above the valley it sits in 25-acre grounds and lies adjacent to Goss Hall, the owners’ Grade II Elizabethan manor house. A truely rural location where a small flock of Gotland rare breed sheep graze in the surrounding fields, with chickens, cockerels, geese, ducks and goats all within view of the property. From the doorstep, walking and cycle trails are aplenty, with one leading to Ashover itself which uniquely has its very own downloadable audio trail, with the ability to bring the route to life.
The River Amber flows through this small village which lies between Chesterfield and Matlock, and was once used for the TV drama series, ’Peak Practice’. Nearby Ogston Reservoir can be reached in around 10 minutes and provides sailing, windsurfing, trout fishing, and is also great for bird watching. The former spa town of Matlock, also around 10 minutes offers many antique shops and cafés, and Matlock Bath has its very own cable car that reaches the Heights of Abraham.
The ever popular riverside market town of Bakewell, home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall can be reached in around ½ hour, as can Bolsover Castle. The historic market town of Chesterfield with its crooked spire is around a 20 minute journey and for any thrill seekers, the Alton Towers theme park can be reached in approximately 1 hour. Shop 2 miles, pub serving food 1 mile and restaurant 3 mile
