Cut off from the mainland twice a day by the incoming tide, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne allows visitors to experience complete tranquillity and timelessness, and these Grade II listed fishermen’s cottages are ideally placed to enjoy this unique location. There is a book library in both properties with information about the history of the local area, and there are also a selection of unique postcards that each tell a story and show how the island has changed throughout the years. The cottages offer contemporary comfort yet retain their original charm and character, and are within walking distance of the harbour and long sandy beaches.

Both properties are designed for couples, but they also offer an additional stowaway Z-bed for one additional friend or child. The island, a fine walking and bird watching destination, is dominated by 16th century Lindisfarne Castle, standing dramatically on a rocky outcrop – the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the 7th century seat of Christian learning, are close by.

Across the causeway, Northumberland’s many delights; Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses for boat trips to the Farne Islands’ bird and seal colonies, and Alnwick Castle and Gardens, all of which are within easy driving distance. Though each property is completely self contained, a lockable interconnecting door allows both cottages to be booked by a single family or group (maximum sleeps 4+2). Local carry-out meals available. Shop 200 yards, pubs serving food 500 yards
