Spacious, light and very well-presented, Applegarth House boasts great facilities for extended families holidaying together. On the ground floor is a large kitchen with excellent quality fixtures and fittings, and plenty of space to enjoy a home-cooked meal around the large dining table. The living room is also spacious with ample space to sit together in front of the multi-fuel burner, or looking out across the rear garden and countryside beyond. On the first floor is a fabulous master bedroom with kingsize bed, cot, large picture window, dressing room and large en-suite bathroom. There is a second double bedroom with kingsize bed and a sweeping balcony that looks out across the countryside. The third bedroom on this floor offers twin beds. The games room is also on the first floor and houses a full size pool table, TV and Xbox 360 games console. The family bathroom is large and finished to a good standard too, with a separate shower cubicle, heated towel rail and free-standing bath. On the second floor is a double bedroom and a larger fifth bedroom, which would be ideal as a family suite as it offers a kingsize bed and a single bed.
There is another family bathroom on this floor, which has a bath and a separate shower cubicle, which really does make this property perfect for large families or couples holidaying together. The gardens around the property are also perfect for guests wanting space and room to enjoy their break. To the front of the house is a small children’s play area and also a covered seating area for those warm summer evenings. To the rear of the property is another beautiful lawned garden and great views across the fields. The hot tub is a real bonus for anyone looking for something a bit special.
Perfect for guests wanting to explore the North East and County Durham. Only a little over 3 miles away from excellent transport links and just 3 miles away from Bishop Auckland, guests will find themselves surrounded by countryside yet within easy reach of some very popular locations. Perfect for a long weekend and a trip to see the magical extravaganza of Kynren, the main seating area for the show can be reached in just a 6 minute drive or 2½ mile walk. With a show every weekend from the end of June through to September, Kynren really is a spectacle that cannot be missed.
With a cast of 1000 volunteers, pyrotechnics, fireworks and burning lake the performance celebrates 2000 years of history, myths and legends. Shildon Railway Museum is also a popular place to visit and is just over 3 miles away as well as Binchester Roman Fort and Auckland Castle. Further north but still within a 10 mile radius, guests will be able to visit and explore the cathedral city of Durham which has recently been awarded World Heritage Site status. Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle are both steeped in history and sit at the centre of the city which is also well known for its year round entertainment and festivals as well as the many boutiques, cafés and restaurants. Most famous as a university city, guests with friends and family that are studying there will find Applegarth House the perfect place to stay when visiting or attending graduation ceremonies.
