The Hen House (UKC1742) and The Stables (UKC1743) are quietly nestled away in the village of Brandon, just a little over 2 miles from the heart of the city of Durham and hidden away behind the owner’s home. They offer the most fabulous location for guests wishing to explore and enjoy the immediate area and beyond. The Stables is next door to the Hen House and is the ideal cottage for small families and couples. On the ground floor guests will find an open plan living space with a cosy wood burner and fabulous views through the French doors. Right next door, but still private from each other, guests will find The Hen House. All on one level, compact and cosy, this little gem manages to pack everything in to a small amount of space, perfect for an Easter break, summer holiday or winter getaway. The Stables and The Hen House are both warm, welcoming and the ideal places to stay at any time of year.
Within walking distance of a variety of shops and amenities, guests will be able to leave the car behind and take a stroll towards Durham. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this cathedral city boasts history, tradition, elegance and style, alongside thriving shops and restaurants. The Gala Theatre and Cinema are just a couple of minutes’ walk away, as well as the Freemans Quay leisure facilities and pool, which are open all year round. Also perfect for guests wanting to visit friends or family at Durham University, The Hen House and The Stables are only a 5-minute drive from many of the university campuses and colleges.
Within an easy 15-minute drive, guests can take the opportunity to visit Bishop Auckland, and in particular, the amazing Kynren show during the summer months.
Kynren, an epic tale of England, has proved to be a historical extravaganza with a cast of over 1,000 people and set over 7. 5-acres of County Durham.
Perfect for walkers and cyclists, County Durham offers a plethora of walking routes along the river and through smaller villages, leading out towards Weardale, the Durham Dales and beyond. A little further afield, but all within easy driving distance, guests can take a drive out to the historic market town of Barnard Castle, or enjoy a day trip to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
