This charming, semi-detached holiday cottage is set in the ‘picture postcard’ village of Hedley on the Hill, only 15 minutes from Corbridge in the south of Hadrian’s Wall country, in a very pretty part of this friendly, unspoilt county. The views from the village across the Tyne Valley are spectacular, and the property has a rear sitting-out area to relax in. This is a charming base from which to tour the many attractions in the area, or make a holiday out of a visit for a special event, such as the Great North Run or a university graduation ceremony. Corbridge is a historic, pretty little market town with charming pubs and tea rooms, and the area is perfect for cyclists and walkers - the whole of Hadrian’s Wall can be followed on a special trail and many Roman forts can be visited along the route.
Head to Newcastle with its museums and shopping, bustling Hexham or historic Durham. Sample some of the local produce in the many delis and farm shops around the area. Roam free in rolling countryside, visiting quaint villages or head to the city and see the Angel of the North, or visit BALTIC and other museums in Newcastle. Hexham is dominated by a medieval abbey (built of stone from Hadrian’s Wall) and the Old Gaol depicts the Border Reivers’ story.
Durham is within easy reach by car. Don’t miss the Heritage coast, less than an hour away, by heading north and sampling the many castles and miles of golden sandy beaches. An ideal location from which to explore this wonderful county from inland to the coast. The local real ale pub opposite has won numerous awards for its food, including British Gastropub of the Year and a North East England Tourism Gold Award. Beach 25 miles. Shop 3½ miles, pub and restaurant 50 yard
