East Sea View is set second from the end of a short terrace overlooking Newbiggin Golf Club, where horses graze, with views out to sea from all the front windows. The beach is just a short walk where you can stroll the length of the promenade. A beautiful church sits at one end, and the middle houses the bandstand and the iconic ice cream parlour passed down over generations with the closely guarded ice cream recipe. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea has a very good Indian and Italian restaurant and a small craft ale bar as well as butchers, bakeries, pubs, cafés and a large supermarket. Standing out to sea is the famous offshore sculpture ’The Couple’ designed by Sean Henry.
On a nice evening you can see the sailing boats in the bay and the lifeboat practicing on most Sunday mornings. Dolphins and seals have been spotted in the bay and the village has a local dolphin watch team.
The golf course is practically on your doorstep and serves meals and drinks. The local bus stop is nearby where you can literally hop on and get off in Newcastle or Morpeth. Morpeth is only 8 miles and has a good selection of shops, why not drop into the Edwardian Sanderson Arcade for more shopping? Alnwick Castle is around 25 miles, home to the Duke of Northumberland and famed for ’Harry Potter’ scenes.
The beautiful Northumbrian Heritage Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is easily reached following the road out of Newbiggin and heading up the coast.
East Sea View is a comfortable base for couples or a small family offering a value for money break by the sea. It is close to a good road network making travelling around this diverse county, voted the ’best place to Holiday’ in the 2018 British Tourism Awards, easy in all directions. Beach 600 yards. Shop 800 yards, pub 400 yards and restaurant 200 yards
